H.E. Ambassador Rula Almhaissen attended a high-level panel discussion in Stockholm on May 7, 2024. The plenary session, titled “Rethinking Conflict Prevention,” was part of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute – SIPRI‘s 2024 Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development.

It delved into the imperative need to reassess conflict management strategies to adapt to the evolving security landscape.

Among the distinguished panel guests was HE Dr. Majed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Qatar and Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Al Ansari discussed Qatar’s role as a non-traditional mediator in the Israel-Palestine conflict and its approach to conflict prevention and peace facilitation.

The following day, Ambassador Almhaissen also attended a seminar organized by The Swedish Institute of International Affairs-@Utrikespolitiska institutet UI, focusing on “mediating in wars – from Bosnia to Gaza.”

The seminar explored the pivotal role of mediators in global conflicts.

Key speaker HE Dr. Al Ansari elaborated on Qatar’s mediation efforts in the ongoing conflict in Gaza and emphasized the importance of mediators in achieving enduring and sustainable solutions.

حضرت سعادة السفيرة رولا المحيسن في حلقة نقاش رفيعة المستوى، عقدتها سبري، في ستوكهولم في 7 مايو 2024. كانت الجلسة العامة بعنوان “إعادة تفكير في منع النزاعات”، والتي شكلت جزءًا من منتدى ستوكهولم 2024 للسلام والتنمية، حيث تركزت على ضرورة إعادة تقييم استراتيجيات إدارة النزاعات في ضوء التطورات الأمنية الراهنة.

ومن بين الضيوف في الجلسة، كان معالي الدكتور ماجد الأنصاري، مستشار رئيس وزراء قطر والمتحدث الرسمي باسم وزارة الخارجية، الذي تناول دور قطر كوسيط غير تقليدي في النزاع الفلسطيني-الإسرائيلي ونهجها في منع النزاعات وتسهيل السلام.

وفي اليوم التالي، حضرت السفيرة المحيسن ندوة نظمتها UI Sweden، بعنوان “الوساطة في الحروب: من البوسنة إلى غزة”، حيث تم تناول دور الوسطاء في معالجة النزاعات العالمية. وقد أبرز الدكتور الأنصاري، كمتحدث رئيسي، جهود قطر في التوسط في النزاع الجاري في غزة وأكد الدور المحوري للوسطاء في تحقيق حلول دائمة ومستدامة.
