Sweden recognized the State of Palestine almost eleven years ago 🇸🇪✌️🇵🇸
At that time, Gaza had already endured three devastating wars and was suffering under an Israeli blockade that had lasted more than seven years.
In the West Bank, the plight of the Palestinian people continued to worsen under Israeli occupation, marked by killings, arbitrary arrests, the separation wall, checkpoints, settler colonialism, extremist violence, annexation, and forced displacement.
These ongoing and escalating policies take place within a framework of systematic apartheid and organized state terrorism, entrenching Israeli control over the land and people of Palestine in blatant violation of international law and fundamental human rights.
Today, even as international recognitions multiply, Palestine continues to lose its people and cities in a genocide that has already claimed more than 65,000 lives at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces.
Each recognition reaffirms the Palestinian people’s #RightToSelfDetermination. These recognitions are not merely political gestures; they embody a moral and historical imperative in support of the #TwoStateSolution. Yet, the international community must go further, above all by acting decisively to #StopTheGenocide and hold the perpetrators accountable.
Through the sacrifices and resilience of our people, the continued diplomatic and legal struggle, the unwavering efforts of our diaspora, and the support of the global solidarity movement, we continue to advance on the path to victory, freedom, and independence.
