شاركت السفيرة رولا المحيسن في فعالية بعنوان: “تداعيات العنف الجنسي المرتبط بالنزاعات في أوروبا في القرن الحادي والعشرين: تجارب من البوسنة والهرسك، كوسوفو، وأوكرانيا” والتي عقدت بالتعاون مع مؤسسة “المرأة للمرأة” (Kvinna till Kvinna)، وسفارتي كوسوفو والبوسنة والهرسك لدى السويد، ومعهد أوكرانيا في السويد، وذلك في مقر المفوضية الأوروبية في السويد.
وخلال الفعالية، قدمت السفيرة مداخلة تحدثت فيها عن العنف الجنسي الذي يتعرض له الشعب الفلسطيني في سجون الإحتلال الإسرائيلي، من نساء ورجال وأطفال؛ مؤكدةً على أهمية المحاسبة والمساءلة لإنهاء العنف الجنسي المرتبط بالنزاعات، حيث أن الإفلات من العقاب يعزز تكرار هذه الجرائم، وأن الإنسانية لا تعرف حدوداً جغرافية وكذلك تطبيق القانون الدولي والقانون الإنساني الدولي، خاصةً إتفاقية جينيف بشأن حماية الأشخاص المدنيين 1949.
Ambassador Rula Almhaissen participated in an event titled “Ripples of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in 21st Century Europe: Experiences from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Ukraine,” held in collaboration with the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, the embassies of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sweden, and the Ukraine Institute in Sweden, at the European Commission headquarters in Sweden.
During the event, the ambassador made an intervention in which she spoke about the sexual violence suffered by the Palestinian people in Israeli occupation prisons, affecting women, men, and children. She stressed the importance of accountability and justice in ending conflict-related sexual violence, noting that impunity fosters the recurrence of such crimes. She emphasized that humanity knows no geographical boundaries, nor does the application of international law and international humanitarian law – particularly the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons.
