شاركت السفيرة رولا المحيسن في الفعالية التي نظمتها الكنيسة السويدية والاتحاد اللوثري العالمي، للتعريف بدور مستشفى أوغستا فكتوريا في القدس؛ أدار الندوة أسقف ستوكهولم، صاحب السعادة أندرياس هولمبيرج،باستضافة المتحدثين: د.فادي أطرش، المدير التنفيذي العام للمستشفى وسيجلندي فينبرينير، ممثلة الإتحاد، إذ ألقت السفيرة كلمة أشادت فيها بالرعاية المتقدمة والمتخصصة التي يقدمها المستشفى، خاصة في ظل التحديات الإنسانية والصحية التي يواجهها الفلسطينيون مثل: النقص الحاد في المستشفيات والمرافق الطبية، وانعدام حرية الحركة الذي يحول دون الحصول على الرعاية الصحية في الوقت المناسب. ومنع المرضى من غزة منذ بدء الإبادة الجماعية من تلقي العلاج المنقذ للحياة في المستشفى مثل مرضى السرطان والسكري وأمراض الكلى؛ بمن فيهم الأطفال.
وأكدت على وجود حاجةٌ ملحةٌ لتوفير حماية دولية لنظام الرعاية الصحية في قطاع غزة، والضغط على سلطات الاحتلال لفتح معابر غزة الحدودية فورًا أمام الإمدادات الطبية، وتسهيل وصول الطواقم الطبية، في ظل الانهيار غير المسبوق لنظام الرعاية الصحية الناجم عن استهداف قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي المباشر للمستشفيات والمراكز الصحية في قطاع غزة، محاصرتها وتدميرها، قتل واعتقال المرضى. واستهدافها المستمر للعاملين في مجال الرعاية الصحية والإغاثة؛ مؤكدةً على الحاجة الملحة لوقف الإبادة الجماعية المستمرة، وإنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي…
Ambassador Rula Almhaissen participated in an event organized by the Swedish Church and the Lutheran World Federation to highlight the role of Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem. The seminar was moderated by the Bishop of Stockholm, H.E. Andreas Holmberg, and featured speakers Dr. Fadi Atrash, the hospital’s CEO, and Sieglinde Weinbrenner, representative of the Federation in Jerusalem. The ambassador delivered a speech in which she praised the advanced and specialized care provided by the hospital, especially in light of the humanitarian and health challenges facing Palestinians, such as the severe shortage of hospitals and medical facilities, and the lack of freedom of movement that prevents timely access to healthcare. Since the beginning of the genocide, patients from Gaza, including cancer, diabetes, and kidney disease patients, including children, have been prevented from receiving life-saving treatment at the hospital.
She emphasized the urgent need for international protection of the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip and called for immediate pressure on the occupying authorities to open Gaza’s border crossings to allow the entry of medical supplies and personnel. This appeal comes in response to the unprecedented collapse of the healthcare sector, attributed to the direct targeting of hospitals and health centers by Israeli occupation forces, as well as the ongoing siege, widespread destruction, and the killing and arrest of patients. She also highlighted the continued targeting of healthcare and relief workers, underscoring the critical need to halt the ongoing genocide and to bring an end to the Israeli occupation.
